Know Your Commander: Christ the King

Verse: For to us a child is born, to us, a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this. Isaiah 9:6-7

One of the first things we need to know when involved in combat is who you are taking your orders from. We need to know what direction to go and when and who to fight. We are not mercenaries who fight in the spiritual realm for any force that pays, rather we are in the Army of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Jesus Christ is our King, and he is the one we take our orders and commands from. He came down from heaven in the form of a babe to be just like us. He was willing to be lowered from the heavenly realm and become a man just like us but perfect and without sin so that He may walk how we walk on this earth. He knows what we go through because he has been here and gone through it.

Not only did He come to earth to live like us, but He also died for us. He knew that the only price that could be paid to save humanity from our sin and destiny of destruction was his blood. It was the perfect sacrifice. He was willing to pay that price, to be humble enough to allow the very mankind He loved to kill Him so that he may save them.

But he did not stay in the grave. Rather three days later, Jesus Christ would rise from the dead, conquering death. He conquered that death so that we may have life and life everlasting. He went in the ground and raised himself from the dead so that he may raise all his chosen from the grave. Death has no victory.

And by conquering death and sacrificing himself for us, we can now live-in communion with Him. We are no longer enemies but adopted sons and daughters of God. This is what our commander was willing to do for us. No longer are gentiles separated and far off rather, we are brought near. Everyone has access to the Father because He tore the veil in two.

Now that He has made that sacrifice the Father has glorified Him. He now reigns as King. Death has been defeated and now all power and authority has been given to Christ. He reigns and wants us to be involved in His kingdom. All government and authorities are under his feet and His soldiers (us) can go forth without fear.

Now you know who your king is. He is the one whom you receive your marching orders from and who you serve. Now bow before Him in all humility and enjoy the love and grace and come with being a soldier of God.
